MECODES, an innovative solution from the CADCAM Group, makes the production process significantly easier, faster, and cheaper by simplifying and streamlining communication between different engineering and design departments.

When it comes to electromechanical product design, transfer of data and information between the mechanical and the electronic domain constitutes the greatest challenge – when engineers and designers working in different domains use incompatible file formats, it slows down the production process significantly and, of course, increases production costs as well.

The lack of harmonized file formatting which would allow a seamless exchange of data between the ECAD application for electronic design and the MCAD application for mechanical design creates serious challenges, especially when it comes to more complex products, now that the product development cycles are getting shorter and shorter as the market dictates.

We at the CADCAM Group decided to take advantage of our extensive experience in working with mechanical CAD solutions and created a set of solutions called MECODES (Mechatronic Collaborative Design Solution), which facilitates a fast and seamless data exchange between CATIA and electronic CAD tools.

The new standard EDMD and IDX format exchange all key data for product design and development are exchanged using the IDX format, and information relevant to the specific process you require at a given time is selected.

Despite working with different formats, the designers can propose changes, modifications and implementations for your product, to the engineers during the process, which makes communication faster and simpler.
