Dassault Aviation new Falcon 5X made its maiden flight on 5 July 2017, taking the air from Bordeaux Merignac airport. This 2-hours long flight is the first one of an initial test campaign. The flight validation and certification one will take place next year (when Safran will deliver certifiable Silvercrest engines). More info on this event are available on Dassault Aviation website.
While reading this article during, you can get the following conclusions:
- the "parallelism" existing between the histories of both, Dassault Aviation Falcon business jets family and Dassault Systèmes CATIA Solutions
- all the innovations / innovative projects which have been put in place to allow the development of such wonderful jets.
Here are some examples illustrated, thanks to Dassault Aviation pictures library in which you will find a lot of beautiful media.
FALCON 2000 / CATIA V4
First of all, one beauty "coming from the past" : the Falcon 2000.
Is has been designed in 3D thanks to CATIA V4. A good example of the implementation of the Digital Mock-Up (DMU) in Aerospace Industry.
FALCON 7X / CATIA V5
Then, the Falcon 7X, the first plane fully developed in 3D, from design to manufacturing thanks to our Dassault Systèmes solutions CATIA V5, ENOVIA VPM V4 and DELMIA V5.
For the first time, all the stakeholders of the project were working on the same Digital Mock-Up (DMU), in a virtual environment (aka virtual plateau).
A great success and showcase of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) added values for Aerospace programs.
FALCON 5X / CATIA V6
And finally, of course, the newest one which has just flown : the Falcon 5X developed with CATIA Version 6 (which is now CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE).
The Falcon 5X is then the first plane fully designed with CATIA Version 6 and ENOVIA V6, which have been chosen for this program to facilitate the global collaboration between all the suppliers and partners.
